The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has scored another major victory in its war against illicit drugs with the arrest of two notorious Lagos drug barons, Victor Nwosa and Felix Chika Obiegbu.
Both men, who had for months been under close surveillance by the agency’s Special Operations Unit (SOU), were caught in possession of large consignments of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine being prepared for export to Europe and beyond.
According to NDLEA sources, 64-year-old Nwosa had long presented himself to the public as a successful textile merchant. But when operatives stormed his residence at 16 Femi Kila Street, Okota on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, a search led to the recovery of 4.33 kilograms of heroin and 448 grams of cocaine.
In a similar operation, 49-year-old Obiegbu, a man widely known as a wine distributor, was picked up at his home at 5 Shada Shonefun Street, Aguda, Surulere on Thursday, September 11, 2025. Hidden in the house were 2.902 kilograms of methamphetamine, which operatives seized on the spot.
Meanwhile, in the northeast, NDLEA operatives thwarted attempts by suspected suppliers of illicit drugs to terrorists and bandits in Borno and Yobe States. The substances, concealed in the engine compartment of a Mercedes Benz jeep and inside a lady’s travelling bag, were uncovered during stop-and-search operations.
The agency described the arrests and seizures as a significant blow to the criminal networks feeding both local and international drug markets, as well as insurgent groups relying on the illicit trade for funding.
