Our attention has been drawn to recent reports alleging that King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate) exhibited unruly behavior while attempting to board a ValueJet flight on August 5, 2025—claims suggesting a breach of aviation protocol.
We categorically state that this narrative is not only exaggerated but entirely misleading.
According to a statement issued by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, at no point did K1 act in a manner that compromised safety or violated aviation regulations. The item in question—sensationalised in various reports—was nothing more than plain drinking water, handed to him in a flask at the airport lounge while he awaited boarding. Despite K1’s respectful attempt to clarify the matter, the situation was needlessly escalated.
Allegations that K1 obstructed the aircraft or disrupted operations are completely unfounded. As a globally respected veteran artiste and frequent traveler, both locally and internationally, K1 is fully aware of and consistently adheres to all aviation protocols.
Had there been any misconduct on his part, it is highly unlikely that the Head of Airport Security, officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), as well as the Chairman and Managing Director of ValueJet, would have personally intervened—offering apologies, appealing to him, and even going as far as arranging a complimentary private jet to fly him to Lagos. Despite their repeated efforts, K1 graciously declined the offer.
It is essential to clarify that K1 was, in fact, the victim in this incident. No one else but he and his personal assistant were involved. The flask containing plain water was provided by lounge staff, who later confirmed its contents—even after K1 opened it at the foot of the aircraft.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that the pilot involved in the matter has since had her license suspended. In light of this, it is not surprising that there may be efforts to deflect responsibility and obscure lapses in professional conduct.
We strongly urge the media and public to avoid sensationalism and base their judgments on verified facts—not assumptions or hearsay.
K1 remains a law-abiding citizen and is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities to ensure that this matter is handled responsibly and transparently.
